Author Introduction

I guess, I should start by introducing myself. I am a wife for 15 years, been together with the same wonderful man- my best friend for nearly 19 years. I am a mother of 6 children of whom 2 survived and are grown now. One is about to have a child of her own. He will be named Gabriel- My first grandbaby due about my 45th birthday. How sweet is that? I was healthy all my life, but when I went into the hospital to have a baby, I came out totally disabled with supposed "Fibromyalgia" & "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome" which had dominoed into many other illnesses and symptoms. I have severe muscle atrophy, suffer severe & chronic pain, allergies, migraines, blindness, digestive problems, and have severe sensitivities to light, sound, and touch. Too many things to name here, they have labeled me with everything in the alphabet, so I call my illness "Alphabet soup" like CFIDS, TMJ, IBS, PMS, RLS, lololo. It took me a long time to learn to live with the multiple and new symptoms, but now I am at the point where I can. But my story isn't about my illnesses or what I suffer, it is about a different nature all together. I don't know where to begin, with this diary, but I guess I'll start with why. Last 20 July 2006 I awoke, looked out my window into my "Holy Family" garden and was surprised to see my praying archangel statue, renamed & dedicated to my beloved 6th cousin "Marie Rose Ferron, Stigmatist of Woonsocket, R.I., U.S.A.", that was in the corner facing her Jesus had litterally BOWED TO HER JESUS! Yes, she was standing straight up with her head about 8 inches away from the corner of the fence & now was 24 inches away from the fence! Her pursey lips changed to a beautiful smile! Her praying hands had moved closer to her chin and her head even bowed more than it was! She is a resin statue that the seller, makers of this type of statue, and resin specialists/repairers, say this can't happen. I took many pictures as well as had posted pictures of her "before" and posted them to http://www.flickr.com/photos/marieroseferron This would not be the start of things, nor the end of such sweet things but it was the final trigger that made me realize that I need to share them with others for I believe it is from God through Rose's intercession for everyone who wishes to hear her. I would find out later in early September that this was a special day to Rose, it was her sister Corinne (Ferron) Imbeau's birthday! After taking pictures of Rose, we moved her next to her Jesus to see if anything would happen but nothing appeared to change. On the 28th July, 8 days later, we checked her and was surprised to see her "RESTANDING STRAIGHT UP!" I didn't know whether to be happy or scared that maybe I made God upset by moving it or bothering Gods plan if it was from him. We took more pictures and measurements and moved her instantly back to her original spot in the corner facing her Jesus again. She measured 10 inches away from the fence! Her smile stayed and hands were still close to her chin. Now, I was contacting anyone I could to find out what possible reasons could one have that this would happen. Statues just don't bow & restand back up straight never mind changing features. In the mean-time, we were now improving our "Holy Family" garden to please God & honor his Holy Family. Rose in the corner stood next to the Virgin Mary who stood next to a red rose bush called "Colleen Mary". This rose bush bloomed gorgeous, large roses all summer long. I think it was Late June when we got one strange rose though. Instead of the regular rose pedals it had, it had "HEART-SHAPED" ROSE PEDALS! We had several red rose bushes so I wasn't absolute which one it came from til this September when the Colleen Mary bloomed another Heart-shaped rose pedals Rose! Some experts I wrote to said this don't happen and this is very rare! The other sweet thing that happened was on 02 SEPTEMBER 2006 when again I awoke, looked out to the garden & found St. Michael who was next to Rose & the V. Mary had his skin only turn green! Not his light clothing, his light coloured wings or his weapons, or the child on the bed with him whom he guards or even his clothing! Just his skin turned green! Oh, his beautiful light tannish wings had turned to the Virgin Mary's favorite colour baby blue!! It wouldn't be til late September, again, I would learn that St. Michael was very special to Rose and Jesus! In Father Boyer's book it said that Jesus told Rose to pray and ask St. Michael for intercession for Jesus.. I had no idea of this, so now I understand the reason why St. Michael who guards the baby child changed just like Little Rose did! I later learned the St. Michael was known to be depicted with green wings so green is special to him, & I do know that since 2001 at Audrey Marie Santo's (Stigmatist of Worcester, Mass.) she had green sparkly stuff spewing from the Virgin Mary's Rosary and other statues that were bleeding & crying there, so it must mean something to God. I guess he will reveal that in his timing. Thank You God, Jesus, Rose, St. Michael for such beauty and love! I sit in awe of your works! With love always, Laurie

Hello Laurie,

I found your blog through a google search.
My mother, Christine (77 years old now) was born and raised in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. She now lives in Florida.
I am her youngest daughter, Alexa (age 51).
Her father was a pediatric physician there in Woonsocket for many years - my grandfather, Herman Lorenzo Emidy. He died around 1964.
My mother called my this morning asking if I had her book entitled, "She Wore a Crown of Thorns". I don't have it - but I've seen it before in my childhood home.
Our conversation was about Rose Ferron and my mother told me that my grandfather was present at the exhumation of her body circa 1937 - when my mother was 6 years old.
She remembers my grandfather reporting that upon the opening of her coffin there was "an overwhelming scent of roses". Which was pretty amazing, to say the least.
Apparently Marie Rose Ferron attended the Sacred Heart Parish there in Woonsocket, where my mother and father were married.
I live in Ontario now with my Canadian husband...
My first husband passed away 15 years ago from complications associated with multiple sclerosis... I cared for him for many many years before he died. We have a son - who is now 25.
I also have a son with my (current) husband of 10 years - who is 7 years old.
May God bless you and help you along the way with your many sufferings -
I hope you get this comment somehow...it was written on June 7, 2008.

I have much same story as the above poster - the child (now 64) if a French Canadian family closely associated with the Ferrons. Two of my uncles were priests; my grandfather died with Rose's rosary beads in his hands and the house supposedly filled with the sent of roses.

Despite all of this, I do not believe in Little Rose Ferron. She was a young girl with crippling arthritis that bore the brunt of her mother's religious hysteria perhaps even abuse and neglect. Objective observers to her phenomenon were forbidden by Rose's father - so what does that say?

Through this cult is perpetrated the notion that God victimizes people and things can be won through suffering. Hickey used her for political reasons to calm his diocese; Bishop McVinney later said there was nothing extraordinary about her life which is the position of the Diocese of Providence today.

None of this will matter a bit to people who need to believe in stories like this.

Hello Anonymous, what a beautiful story about your grandfather! That beautiful scent of roses associated with little Rose has been witnessed by many. I myself, have experienced it in the middle of the winter, way before I knew it could even happen. It is one of the most beautiful things i've experienced.

As for your next paragraph, I feel I must ask you if you are Catholic and do you even believe in the Saints? It is well-documented and well proven similar phenomena that has happened with many saints. Theresa Neumman, Padre Pio, are just a few to mention. It is nothing to be afraid of. Our Beloved Father uses and does things like this in the most wonderful ways for his holy purpose- much of it we will not be able to understand, but we should always trust in him for he always turns things into the greater good for his holy will and purpose.

As for all of little Rose's actual diagnosises like the said crippling arthritis you mention, there's no arguement and it is even well-documented that even some of her own specialists and doctors believed in her after their extensive care with her! She had many specialists examine and observe her and her ailments for quite lengthy times. I personally, have documents that state that these specialists believed in her and that there was more than enough evidence to bring her case before Rome for request of Sainthood! There's no doubt she suffered multiple sufferings and she willing offered them up to her Jesus for the sake of souls.

My dearest friend in Christ, are you one of little Rose's doctors, specialists or one of the thousands of witnesses who examined Little Rose where you would have first hand knowledge of her conditions and all that happened about her? If so, I would love to receive your submissions or any documents you may have that proves what you have written to be fact as I would love to read them and use them for my personal records. Your following statement, "She was a young girl with crippling arthritis that bore the brunt of her mother's religious hysteria perhaps even abuse and neglect", is what disturbs my heart and soul for many reasons. First of all, unless you were one of her doctors, psychiatrists, experts or one of her thousands of witnesses, to make such a statement is horribly, slanderous and absolutely inappropriate and i really would like to know where this information came from and is based on for surely it is not fact. I, personally have documents recorded by 100's of experts, witnesses and much more who state that Little Rose's mother was a gentle, loving, caring, and excellent mother and absolutely no where does any document state there was even such a remote suspicion of what you mistakenly falsely claim!I can even guarantee you that if there was ever such a suspicion of that, even in those days, the state had a DCYF that surely would have come in and taken those children away without question! The 2nd problem I have with your mistaken statement, is, isn't it against Gods' 10 commandments to make a false witness statement unless you actually witnessed such a thing. To use those accuasations so freely without first hand knowledge is dangerous and severely damaging to the person and persons involved and that is the reason why God has that commandment in place, to prevent someone from ruining someone's good reputation, and their lives and the people about them. Please be careful, not to use such a vicious rumor as truth, it hurts, and it destroys lives forever.

I assume you base your above part statement upon the rest of your following statement, "Objective observers to her phenomenon were forbidden by Rose's father - so what does that say?", and well, my answer to that is, again, this is based on a half truth and half false truth and a very large FALSE RUMOR! I have many documents that prove our Little Rose when she first got sick in Fall River, Ma., had been seen by numerous doctors and specialists in their offices and even in the hospitals as the family desperately tried to find out what was wrong and happening to their beloved daughter. Extensive tests were done to that poor girl! Electric shocks in baths were even given to her to try to stop some of the symptoms which burned the poor girl! These multitudes of tests, and experiments went on for quite some time draining the family's already hurting finances, and they suffered Little Rose deeply as well and the Church- priests and experts in Mysticism & Stigmata, who were involved and who followed closely, finally advised her father that enough was enough- no more testing should be done. Several highly educated, highly respected experts in Mystics and Stigmatics also agreed and stated to Little Rose's father that these kind of tests can eventually kill Mystics & Stigmatics! So, you see, this professional advice which was given to the father, was what the father, himself obeyed in trusting those experts! Rose's parents, family, friends, doctors, experts, priests and other witnesses were very thorough in trying to diagnose, and properly care for Little Rose and noone was ever guilty of neglect or abuse or for refusing proper medical care. That false rumor was absolutely ridiculous, there were too many well-educated, highly respected people involved for that to ever have happened! Rose's parents, family and Little Rose were nothing but obedient and at the mercy of their beloved Church and the medical field.

As for your last statements, "Through this cult is perpetrated the notion that God victimizes people and things can be won through suffering. Hickey used her for political reasons to calm his diocese; Bishop McVinney later said there was nothing extraordinary about her life which is the position of the Diocese of Providence today.", I can only say that Jesus suffered on the cross for our sins, and that God does not victimize anyone, but he does ask each & everyone of us to follow in his footsteps, by his actions, and he never promised that we would not have crosses in our lives, but he does ask us to pick up our crosses and bear them and that he promises he will be with us when we do. Who are we to judge what cross each of us will bear tho they may be different? Who are we to judge how God uses those crosses? It is well documented the Saints from thousands of years ago, whom have suffered differently, and yes some suffered stigmata, and more. I do not ask God what or why he allows such things, I trust in him for he knows better. Nothing can be "won" by our own merits, etc.. but how we handle what is brought our way is important. God alone saves us, we are sinners but we can always try to unite with our beloved Lord the good and the bad-our whole being. The closer you are to him, you offer what ever you can to help others. His greatest commandment was to "Love thy neighbor as yourself". Our purpose here is not for ourselves but for eachother as one body in Christ.

To make another false accuasation that Bishop Hickey used her to calm his diocese says that you have little faith in our Bishops and their motives which everyone knows that at that time that upset many irish and many french so neither side was satisfied and poor Rose suffered that unjust criticism of that as well but then in the same sentence you give a whole lot of good reputation to the next bishop McVinney which is confusing. Are you angry with one Bishop and in favor of the other for some reason? Bishop McVinney based his final decree on a statement from a very inaccurate and very much incomplete report, given to him, MIS-stating that there was 3 thorough investigations and since that is proven fact to be untrue (I have that proof in document as well) as none of the family, friends & witnesses were interviewed and are STILL WAITING TO BE INTERVIEWED, then he had to go on only what was given to him. If I hand your doctor 1/16 a report for your scheduled heart operation, would you still want to go in for that operation? NO! There is much to be said about the investigations that had been done and the errors that happened with them and that is why all the family, friends, witnesses and followers-believers of Little Rose are still requesting that a proper investigation be done and that we all be interviewed as once promised. We do pray her case will be reopened and reinvestigated thoroughly this time. If it be Gods' holy will, it will be.

Lastly, you state, "None of this will matter a bit to people who need to believe in stories like this", and all I can say is the same that some say when they are questioned about Jesus, it comes from faith and love. Peace my friend in Christ, with many hugs and much love, thank you for sharing. Laurie
